If you enjoy sunsets and coffee, then you’re in for a treat at one of Tarlac’s newest coffee havens: Sunset Café!
Located within West Valley in San Jose, Tarlac, Sunset Café operates from 11 AM to 8 PM on weekdays and from 8 AM to 8 PM on weekends.
Segue: We absolutely adore the ambiance of San Jose, which is why when an ad popped up on my Facebook feed showcasing an aesthetically pleasing glamping cabin, we promptly booked it for my birthday. Unfortunately, due to a family emergency, we had to cancel our reservation. However, the staff at West Valley were incredibly kind and promptly refunded us in full.
Due to our hectic schedules, we weren’t able to rebook our stay. However, it was during one of our subsequent trips that we stumbled upon another delightful surprise: West Valley also boasts a café. Therefore, we decided to pay a visit to enjoy a quick brunch during one of our road trips.

Upon arrival, the café was sweltering hot, and being a weekday, we found ourselves the sole patrons at that early hour. The interior of Sunset Café exuded a traditional ambiance, adorned with numerous wooden tables and chairs.
The café may not be expansive, but it offers a spacious and airy al fresco atmosphere. With two levels, outdoor seating, and a scenic view deck, there’s no shortage of charming spots to sit.
However because it its still hot outside, we opted to stay indoors.
Aside from Sunset Café, West Valley also has its own kitchen with different menu.

During our visit, we indulged in West Valley’s grilled sausage, along with Sunset Café’s refreshing lemonades and crispy liempo.
Sunset Cafe & West Valley Food Review:
- Grilled Sausage: Absolutely delightful.
- Crispy Pork Liempo: Heavenly, boasting a crispy exterior and tender meat, complemented perfectly by the savory seaweed rice.
- Lemon Ade: Refreshing, albeit slightly sour.
- Lychee Ade: A delightful favorite, bursting with fruity flavor.
Sunset Café provides wooden spoons and forks, although I found them a bit challenging to use despite the deliciously crispy and tender food.
After finishing our brunch, I opted to take a brief tour of the area. However, due to the lingering heat, I kept it short and sweet.
West Valley offers three accommodation options, one of which is Villa Matteus situated at the back of the café.
On the left side of the café, you’ll discover Villa Carlos and Villa Erminda. Both of these accommodations boast aesthetic appeal and are ideal for groups and celebrations. Each villa features a pool and comes equipped with complete amenities for a comfortable stay.
If you arrive in the afternoon, be sure to make the most of the view deck, especially during sunset. Its romantic ambiance makes it perfect for intimate dates.
They also have two monkeys and two rabbits at the back of the cafe. I just hope they provide more shade, especially since it gets too hot during lunchtime.
Overall, we truly enjoyed the food at Sunset Café. The only problem is the heat. They have metal roof and don’t have wooden ceiling or insulation to block the heat.
We’ll definitely swing by in the late afternoon as well to see if the vibe improves, and we’ll make sure to update this blog with more photos and food review!
